🎯 The challenges

Comfort Energy Group started their journey towards a more active workplace in 2022 with the Millionaire Step Challenge. The challenge was such a success that it inspired the company to organise two more challenges in the following years: the Spring Challenge in 2023 and the 999 Duo Challenge in 2024.

2022 – Millionaire Step Challenge

In October 2022, Comfort Energy Group introduced the Millionaire Step Challenge. Teams of four aimed to collectively reach one million steps over the course of a month. To reach that target each person had to make around 8,000 steps per day.

🔎 In the Millionaire Step Challenge, a total of 68 active participants across 19 teams walked, ran, and moved their way to an impressive 13.7 million steps. This resulted in an average of 201,202 steps per participant. The enthusiasm for the challenge was reflected in the high participation rate, with 93% of participants remaining active throughout the event.

An added bonus: Comfort Energy Group tied the challenge to a charitable cause, raising €1,026 for the Belgian Paralympic Committee, far exceeding the initial target.

“It really motivated me to think about my steps, especially when you’re working as a team!”

2023 – Spring Challenge
In 2023, Comfort Energy Group launched their second KeepMoving challenge as part of the Move2Improve initiative. Teams of five colleagues were challenged to collect 3,000 active minutes together over the course of four weeks, averaging 150 minutes of movement per person per week.

Participants could choose any activity they liked, from walking and cycling to yoga or strength training. The gamified setup, live leaderboards and weekly updates created a motivating buzz across the company. More than just boosting physical activity, the challenge sparked spontaneous connections between colleagues – even beyond their own teams.

🔎 This challenge saw 87 employees take part across 27 teams, collectively logging 161,958 minutes of physical activity. Not only was the WHO’s recommended 30 minutes per day easily surpassed, but participants logged an average of 66 minutes per day. That’s 2.2 times the quota! The sense of collective achievement was tangible, with participants connecting across teams and maintaining consistent activity levels throughout the challenge.

“It was amazing to see everyone come together to collect points, even though we weren’t all on the same team!”

2024 – 999 Duo Challenge
In 2024, we set -up the 999 Duo Challenge for Comfort Energy Group: a playful and competitive challenge where colleagues teamed up in pairs to collect 999 minutes of physical activity together within just three weeks. Whether walking, running, cycling or working out, every minute counted. The short timeframe and clear target sparked a strong sense of commitment and accountability within each duo.

🔎 For the 999 Duo Challenge, pairs of colleagues joined forces to hit the target of 999 minutes of physical activity in just three weeks. The results were impressive: teams of two averaged 66 minutes of exercise per day, and the competition fostered friendly competition, keeping motivation high. The challenge also helped colleagues break down barriers and forge new connections across departments, contributing to a more cohesive company culture.

“The images on the Wall of Fame and the way Move2Improve became a conversation starter, helping me connect with new or unfamiliar colleagues, was the best part of the challenge.”
